Year 3/4 Science. Learning about pitch

Today we were learning about pitch. The children enjoyed listening to the teachers play some instruments and identified low and high notes. The children tried to create a scale using glass bottles and water. They also tried to explain how the different notes were produced.  

These are some of the questions we tried to answer:

Does the amount of water in a bottle affect the sound produced?

Can you make a low and a high sound? 

Can you make a quiet and a loud sound? 

When you blow across the bottle does it make the same sound as when you tap it?
