Once again, it was truly magical to be part of the Young Voices Choir. An exhausting but exhilarating day was had by all. A big well done to everyone involved. We also enjoyed sharing the experience with Duddon this year. A big thank you also to the parents and friends who joined us for the evening performance.

A big thank you to competitors, staff,PTFA for refreshments, family and friends for making this year's Barrow Sports Day such a great success. Much fun was had by all. Well done to the Blue Team in their combined performances to win the prestigious Sports Day Cup. Thank you to Mr Bell for such wonderful photographs which capture the many memorable moments of the afternoon.

We were thrilled to get three 2nd places in this competition. Well done to all the children who wrote beautiful poems and drew pictures of the Queen. The prize winning work went on show at the Town Hall over the Jubilee weekend.

The children performed beautifully at our 'Sing Easter' celebration where the Easter story was told through singing and Bible readings. We also enjoyed a fabulous Easter bonnet parade and viewing eggceptional 'Egg Box' competition entries. A big thank you to Julia Tillotson (School Governor) for giving her time to the very difficult task of judging both competitions. Thank you to everyone who came to share a beautiful afternoon together.

Willow class took part in the Poetry Project following an exciting programme of study provided by The Literacy Company. Year 5 pupils poems will be compiled into an anthology 'A New Beginning'. Profits raised from the sale of the anthology will be gifted to Share- supporting the homeless, assisting refugees everywhere. Today, two of our pupils were able to perform their poems at the Storyhouse,Chester. We were so proud of every child that took part and hearing their inspirational poems.

On Friday afternoon, we found out about Chinese New Year and celebrated by enjoying stir fry eaten with chopsticks, decorated hats with the Year of the Tiger theme and made a traditional red envelope to take home.

- looking at how water is transported in plants
- in pairs we identified parts of a flower
- we have planted an amarylis and are monitoring it's growth with the intention to use the data to create a graph

BARROW SCHOOL YOU ARE AMAZING!
Yesterday, our children took part in a 20 minute ELF RUN. We raised over £540 in sponsorship which was just incredible for our small but mighty school.
It was such good fun to take part in, aswell as raising much needed funds for a very good cause.
Huge thanks to the children, their families and friends for supporting this event.

The Christmas Tree Festival at Chester Cathedral
Chester Cathedral Christmas Tree Festival returns for its ninth fabulous year in 2021.
This is such a delightful family event where, from the end of November, until the beginning of January, over 50 Christmas trees will sparkle and shimmer throughout the Cathedral.
Barrow CE School are pleased to announce that we have our very own beautiful tree on display there this year, which is superbly dressed with your child’s amazing artwork.
Please take time to go along and visit. It’s a spectacular event and definitely gets you in to the Christmas Spirit.

During Cop26 the children have been thinking and talking about climate change. They wrote a promise that they wanted world leaders to make and then a promise of their own.
Today,the children of Barrow school wrote their own promises on a painted leaf to join young people across the UK to form a forest of promises.

Willow class have also written letters to Boris Johnson expressing their conerns about the environment and climate change.
