School temporarily closed due to HMG guidance on Covid-19

School closure due to lockdown - Monday 4 January

Following the announcement by the Prime Minister on the evening of Monday 4 January of a return to a national lockdown which includes the immediate closure of all schools, Barrow CE Primary School will be closed to the majority of our pupils forthwith, and the school will not open as planned for the Spring Term on Tuesday 5 January.

As with the previous lockdown between March and June 2020, the school will remain open to children of key workers who need to send their children to school and to any children deemed vulnerable.

Our immediate priority is to ensure online, remote learning for all pupils can be rolled out at the earliest possible opportunity. To ensure this work can finalised as expeditiously as possible, our plan is that the school will remain closed to all pupils during the course of tomorrow (Tuesday 5 January), and that on-line lessons & remote learning will be rolled out by class teachers in time for Wednesday 6 January. Staff will also be contacting the parents of those pupils eligible to attend school from Wednesday 6 January.

The families of pupils in receipt of Free School Meals will be contacted as soon as the school receives further information on the support on offer.

We fully appreciate this eleventh hour decision to close schools may cause difficulties for some families and we thank you for your understanding in this matter. Please be assured that our school keeps the community at its heart and we will continue to do our very best to support pupils and their families in any way that we can.

As during the last period of lockdown, learning will continue remotely, and we will be constantly reviewing local and national guidance to ensure we are able to open the school as soon as is possible.
