School response to Covid-19

Following the receipt of guidance from both the Department for Education and Cheshire West & Chester local authority, from Monday 23 March, Barrow School will be closed to all pupils other than the children of designated key workers and children deemed to be vulnerable.

We are immensely grateful to all pupils, parents and staff for their patience and understanding in these challenging and unprecedented times.

More detailed guidance on how best to structure the day for children out of school has been provided directly to parents and carers, in an attempt to try, as far as is possible, to maintain an ethos of learning and development during what may become an extended period of disruption to a normal curriculum. Stafff will endeavour to keep this flow of information up to date during the course of coming weeks.

We anticipate having only a limited number of pupils in school in the week commencing Monday 23 March, and we will be liasing closely with schools in the surrounding area during that week to determine how best to provide a meaningful experience for what may only be a very small number of pupils. It may be that we decide to collaborate with other schools in the same position as us, so that provision during these times can be as effective as possible.

We very much look forward to resuming normal school activity as soon as government and healthcare advice suggests this may be possible. Once again, thanks to all in the school community for their forebearance and support.

Kind regards

Mrs Lucy Wainwright, Headteacher

Mr John Armstrong, Chair of Governing Body
