Year 3/4 Science investigations

Date: 25th Sep 2015 @ 6:01pm

Today the Year 3/4's have been busy planning and carrying out an investigation to see which material would be the best to make a blackout blind for the classroom. They tested different materials including net, foam, card and plastic to see if the materials were transparent, translucent or opaque. Finally the children came to the conclusion that black card would be the most suitable material to use.

Year 3/4 also looked at some different materials in order to make their own stained glass windows. They decided on tissue paper and created their own fantastic stained glass windows which are now hanging in the classroom windows.

Luckily it was a sunny day today so we were also able to carry out a shadows investigation. We took the school throne out onto the playground and measured the length of the shadow every hour. We also observed how the shadow changed direction.
