y5/6 visit Bickley Hall Farm

Date: 16th May 2017 @ 4:46pm

Bickley Hall Farm is located in south Cheshire around three miles from the village of Malpas and around eight miles from Nantwich between the A49 and A41. The 210acre (85ha) site provides children with a fantastic opportunity to experience both farming and wildlife at first hand.

We had a fantastic day with Nick and his team at Bickley Hall farm. This is what we had the opportunity to do:

Pond dipping - The children worked in small groups collecting pond creatures and recording what they found. We then studied them in more depth on a big screen through a goose necked camera.

Newt workshop –The children were given a unique opportunity to get ‘close up’ with a great crested newt and were allowed to handle them carefully

Seasonal food on the farm - The children got a chance to pick rhubarb and make crumble for lunch.

We also had time to play hide and seek in the orchard and make a clay newt to take home.
